The striped tenrec is a peculiar small creature resembling a mix between a hedgehog, a porcupine, and a zebra, sporting a mohawk! Found exclusively in Madagascar, this adorable critter has spikes all over its body for protection against predators. Its distinctive feature is its yellow or brown stripes running across its black spiky fur, giving it a zebra-like appearance. Beyond its looks, it showcases intriguing behaviors, including echolocation like bats, using sound waves to navigate and find prey. During pregnancy, females dig a burrow and employ defensive headbutts if threatened. Active both day and night, it feeds mainly on earthworms and displays fascinating foraging techniques. Despite its cuteness, it’s best to admire this fascinating creature from a safe distance to avoid its sharp spines!
