Bubby’s story started back in 2012, when he found himself in Boyd Abbott’s kitchen after wandering the streets of Grand Falls-Windsor

Bubby’s story started 8 years ago when he was aimlessly wandering the streets of Grand Falls-Windsor. And then, one fateful day, he found himself in Boyd Abbott’s kitchen and claimed it as his own. From that day on, Bubby would show up near the man’s house every single day.

The man and other family members fell in love with the mysterious 3-legged cat and started taking care of him

The man and other family members quickly fell in love with the mysterious cat and started taking care of him. And since it seemed like the orange boy didn’t want to be an indoor cat, the family would let him outside after each visit.

Unfortunately, a few years later, the man passed away, and one of his wishes was that his family members would continue to take care of Bubby. Despite the family’s best efforts, it wasn’t meant to happen—the cat suddenly disappeared and was nowhere to be seen.

After a few years, Boyd Abbott passed away, and the cat stopped showing up at his house

Fast forward to the summer of 2019, Bubby suddenly reappeared in the neighborhood. One day, a guy named Ray Pinsent noticed Bubby and recognized him as the cat that had once shared a special bond with the late man that lived in the neighborhood, though now the cat seemed much older and much weaker than he did back then.

When the harsh Canadian winter arrived, Ray feared that the cat would not be able to hang on much longer. Because of that, he decided to come to the house where Boyd Abbott used to live and talk about Bubby with the new owner of the house. Ray asked the woman if she could let the cat in the next time he showed up at her house. The next day, the guy got a call from the house owner that the cat was there, sitting in her kitchen. Ray went to pick up the cat and rushed him to Exploits Valley SPCA Adoptables.

Sarah MacLeod, the volunteer at the shelter, decided to foster Bubby until he gets stronger

“Bubby with his sad human eyes was loved once before and he is now again. He purrs the minute he wakes up in the morning and as he goes to sleep every night. He’s never asked to go outside once. He must know that he’s home now, for good,” the woman added.

After some time, the volunteer decided to keep Bubby forever
